NACo Annual Conference report: Earth Day Network talks partnership with US Olympians
July 17, 2019
Earth Day Network participated in the 84th annual conference of the National Association of Counties in Las Vegas, Nevada, July 12–15, 2019. The National Association of Counties (NACo) strives to achieve healthy, safe and vibrant counties across the U.S. NACo advocates as a collective voice on national policies and ideas for America’s 3,000-plus counties — all while enriching the public’s understanding of county governance.
At the conference, EDN National Field Director Will Callaway and President of the U.S. Olympians and Paralympians Association Dick Fosbury — gold medalist in the 1968 Olympics high jump — discussed a potential partnership between EDN and the USOPA, which would tie into Earth Day Network’s Athletes for the Earth campaign.
EDN also met with dozens of county officials and urged them to plan for an event in their community next April. EDN staffed a booth and recruited for its Green Counties campaign. Earth Day Network’s Green Counties campaign highlights the actions of counties leading up to, on, and after Earth Day 2020. The goal is to have a nationwide network of partners that can mobilize millions of Americans to act locally in the fight to save our planet.
April 22, 2020, is the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. Take action by joining the world’s largest environmental movement.
