Talking About Earth Challenge 2020
It was an honor to host a panel at COP24, with EDN’s Valeria Merino discussing ways in which citizen science and environmental education can further the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement. Merino was joined by Kenza Khallafi of the Foundation Mohammed VI for the Protection of the Environment on December 11. Topics discussed: Earth Challenge 2020 for Earth Day 2020 and the environmental programs that the foundation has been supporting. The complementary aspects between citizen science and environmental education are clear! We gained many insights from the conversation with members of the audience pointed at the need to engage the public on monitoring the impact of the Paris Agreement. At #SIF18 listening about assets at risk of becoming stranded if they depend on oil, as climate might render them worthless prior to the end of their economic life time. Investment is needed for transitioning those assets. #EarthDay2020 can be a milestone for commitments.

Engaging with and Learning from Local Leaders at the Sustainable Innovation Forum
Earth Day Network was a media and institutional partner of the Sustainable Innovation Forum 2018, a COP24 affiliate event, where we joined other leaders in discussions of the latest policies and innovations galvanizing a global momentum towards a low-carbon economy. Our focus was on how to engage the general population in this conversation and in the transition process. At #COP24 with @NickHenry_CC, CEO & Founder of Climate Action and Alfie Hill-Kitcherside organizers of #SIF18. An excellent day learning about the most important positive signals of progress on #ClimateAction and discussing plans for #EarthDay2020

At #SIF18 we heard that we must not misunderstand the sentiment on the streets about climate. People want -for all- clean air, jobs, opportunities, a friendly climate & peace. It will require new ambitious commitments & radical transparency. #EarthDay2020 #ClimateAction pic.twitter.com/Sgh0Hffjy2

Ending first day of #SIF18. Good discussions on #climatechange. Meeting #ParisAgreement goals will require parties tracking and reporting progress transparently & in standardized way. How can regular citizens participate to aid governments & businesses? pic.twitter.com/wbC0V4VE1V

Today’s final panel at the #SIF18 discussed the potential revolutionary power that blockchain technology has for the energy sector. It will be interesting to see how this topic emerges at other #COP24 events and how it develops until #EarthDay2020 pic.twitter.com/YhD55Ili4S
