Best Western and Earth Day Network Promote
‘Acts of Green’ for Annual Earth Day Celebrations
PHOENIX (April 7, 2014) –Best Western International, the World’s Biggest Hotel Family®, announced today it has partnered with Earth Day Network for the third consecutive year to raise awareness on environmental issues in celebration of Earth Day on April 22.
To help spur the conversation, Best Western has launched an ‘Acts of Green’ photo sharing contest on Instagram designed to inspire fans of the brand to showcase their eco-friendly habits. Daily prizes will be awarded to participants following @bestwestern and @earthdaynetwork using #actsofgreen in their posts. One lucky fan has the chance to win a vacation at an eco-friendly Best Western hotel in one of 10 North American destinations.
“As a membership-based organization, Best Western prides itself on the willingness of our hotel owners, as well as our staff, to be a positive voice for conservation and eco-friendly business practices,” said Dorothy Dowling, senior vice president of marketing and sales for Best Western International. “Our ongoing partnership with and support of Earth Day Network reinforces our commitment.”
“Since 2011, Earth Day Network has collected 1.1 billion Acts of Green from people all over the planet who want to live a greener life,” said Earth Day Network president Kathleen Rogers. “Thousands of these Green Acts have originated from Best Western’s eco-friendly hotel owners and its savvy guests. Now we’re celebrating our Best Western partnership with a sweepstakes – and prizes every day – that will inspire and reward all our friends! We’re grateful to Best Western for its leadership in the hospitality industry and excited to see all the new Green Acts for Earth Day 2014.”
Best Western has more than 1,100 properties that have been designated an “Eco-Friendly” hotel. These hotels must comply with qualifications set forth by one or more of the approved domestic or international eco-labeling programs. Best Western Rewards® members are also able to donate points to Earth Day Network’s Canopy project, which plants one tree for every U.S. dollar donated.
